Building Positive Social Bonds
We offer three youth mentoring programs: Beginning Steps for 8-12 year old girls, Changing Steps for 13-18 year old young ladies and Moving Forward for young men ages 8 to 18. Our programs serve more than 150 kids throughout the Pine Bluff and Jefferson County area. These programs work to build positive social bonds that will help deter our children from risky behaviors and prepare them to succeed and serve their community.
Mentoring Program Details
Beginning Steps is our mentoring program for girls ages 8-12. It was created with the purpose of combining youth mentorship and fun through diverse opportunities. Beginning Steps allows the girls to explore new opportunities while simultaneously building lifelong bonds with positive female mentors. The program focuses on Academic Achievement, Developing Social Skills, Building Life Skills, Interpersonal Social Development, and Community Service.
Changing Steps is for teenage girls between the ages of 13 and 18. The program aims to empower young women to dream more, lead more, and learn to do it together. We link girls to women mentors of character and women dedicated to changing their community. They focus on building lasting positive relationships with our girls as well as instilling five core values: Academic Achievement, Self-Respect, Sisterhood, Leadership and Community Service.
Moving Forward is our mentoring program for young men ages 8-18. It promotes the four anchors of honor: Family, Respect of Brotherhood, Academic Achievement and Community Service. Moving Forward empowers young men whom society – and sometimes even family members – have given up on. We teach self-respect, self-worth and respect of others. These life lessons enable our young men to succeed and serve the community.
We are currently enrolling members into all three mentoring programs! Please contact the Director of Programs, Mike Dove, at 870.850.6011 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
